Wood is a lifelong mapping of trees; an archive of memories, livelihood, and age is revealed. The ‘figure’, referring to the appearance of wood, is never plain. It is particular to each piece of wood, due to its grain, cut, and innate properties. Found wood tells of a story extending beyond the tree, it speaks of the life that follows. Identifying the happenings accumulates to the grain, granting wood layers of texture. The film is a mirror to what we experience as humans. The more complex is the figure, the more intriguing is the mapping.
